Ren Ren Exhibition Hall—the supporting service room of phase II of Yangpu Riverside public space / Yangpu Riverside people’s urban construction exhibition hall, is located in the northwest of “Ren Ren Service Station” in Yangshupu port on the side of Huangpu River. It used to be the former site of China Import& Export Lumber Co. Ltd, which was built in 1902. With a total construction area of 1410 square meters, the architecture is a building with two floors above the ground and one floor underground. The underground floor and the ground floor are concrete structures, and the first floor above is wood structures. The building has an aboveground area of 755 square meters, an underground area of 655 square meters, and a building height of 8 meters.

Shangen Village is a renovation project in Wenzhou, dedicated to transforming the once traditionally built village into a tourism destination. SpActrum left the project soon after we proposed the master plan during 2017-2018. The village has been hugely cleaned up since then but has lost some of its ancient ambiance. The once charming chaos has turned into the blankness of purposeful building activity. The SpActrum team became involved again, aiming to recall and restore the power of ambiguity once felt on the site, and started to work on an empty plot by the village bridge.

Located on a peninsula in the historic town of Wuzhen, Chapter and Verse hotel is conceived as a creative retreat that celebrates the local spatial tradition.

The Wukesong Ice Sports Center is the Ice Hockey Training Center for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. It’s located at the southeast corner of Wukesong Sports Complex, right close to Changan Street. The project is symmetric with the Basketball Court on the west.

Land and Sea. Ancient China was geographically and politically centered on the mainland, the coastal areas were historically marginalized. These coastal areas, being far from the regime, gave rise to a more relaxed and diverse vernacular, and the geographical environment where land and water intersected brought about a greater sense of spontaneous and local senses. As time passes, with the expansion of the world’s maritime civilization, the coastal zone gradually became the point of communication between China and foreign cultures, further enriching the physical and non-physical cultural ecology of modern coastal settlements.

Located in a bay in Rongcheng, Shandong province, the site is surrounded by land on three sides and opens to the Yellow Sea on the north. The local government wishes to build a public facility that provides the tourists a place for rest and relaxation. The building sited on the sandy area between the village and the shore, with its south side connected with the coast road. The terrain of the road decreases from west to east, forming a height difference from 4m to 1m with the site.
