Chongqing Huguang City Exhibition Hall / SUZAO Architects

December 19, 2022 Collin Chen 0

Chongqing is a “fantasy” city built in the mountains. The cascading buildings make up the city’s special landscape. Our project is to create a temporary building in the city. Behind the project, the site is modern high-rise buildings, and in front is the architectural heritage – Huguang Guild Hall. The landscape in the distance is the Dongshuimen Bridge and the Yangtze River. The front is history and nature, and the back is the magical city. I hope that our new buildings should be integrated into this fantastic and historical city.

Invited by the coffee and dessert brand “观粼QUALIA” o design its first store., We had the chance to renovate a historical tenement ’s ground floor on the road Wei Xin Heng Lu(维新横路). The road Wei Xin Heng Lu is in a historic district on Pearl River’s north bank, named because it runs perpendicular to a main north-south Wei Xin Road (维新路. “Wei Xin”means restoration),which now has changed its name to Qi Yi Road ( 起义路. “Qi Yi” means revolution) in 1966. It is flanked by a row of tenements that are three or four-story and constructed in concrete frame during the 1930s and 40s.

Red Vicutu Concept Store Design / AntiStatics Architecture

December 15, 2022 Collin Chen 0

The Red-Vicutu Store creates a balance between the dynamic and dramatic, with a clean elegance and sophistication, as inspired by the dual nature of the fashion industry and in particular the clientele of the Vicutu brand. The product to be featured in the store embodies this duality as a refined collection of active wear. Drawing upon the client’s intentions for the brand, the design of the spaces utilizes the curvilinear form to suggest and promote the active dynamism of the product, using advanced fabric simulation and 3d printing to create marquee features within the space. Subtle lighting and textural details create the final refinements within the space elevating the user experience within the in person shopping environment.

New Space Reconstruction of East Gallery / Muhhe Studio

December 13, 2022 Collin Chen 0

On a rainy afternoon in July 2021, I went to see the location of the gallery’s new space accompanied by Mr.Liu of East Gallery and the artist Bian Shaozhi. At the end of the 1980s, it was designed by Zhang Lei Associated Architects and transformed into an industrial park in 2020. We were all amazed by the tall and wide space scale of the new space. Mr. Liu said that artists in Nanjing need to paint some large paintings. Shaozhi feels that when painting large paintings, he also needs a tall space, the feeling of painting in a tall space is completely different from the feeling of painting in a low space. So we decided to keep the high and large scale of the original space as much as possible to provide artists with a better degree of freedom in presenting their works, although this will lose a lot of usable areas.
