The Hidden Treasure / Peter Ebner Treasure

February 24, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

At the beginning of the 17th century, Vincenzo Scamozzi wrote a treatise The Idea of Universal Architecture, which, among other things, touched upon the subject of urban planning. This book was read by the 22-year-old Prince-Archbishop, who then ruled Salzburg. He built many houses under the impression from Scamozzi’s work, thus creating in the Austrian city a surprisingly beautiful combination of streets and squares – a public space that people enjoy to this day.

Chalet La Barque / ACDF Architecture

La Barque is a hyperactive family’s peaceful shelter. Located on the shores of Lake Ouareau in Saint-Donat, the house was inspired by the owners’ love for the northern landscapes. Under the curved ceiling of the house, reminiscent of a boat hull, its serene interior atmosphere captures the calm of the surrounding hills and provides the family with a place to catch its breath between two ski slopes or two waterski runs.

Library Kressbronn a. B. / Steimle Architekten

Public reuse of the former barn at Hemigkofener Straße 11. The guiding ideas for this design were to treat the architectural heritage with consideration and respect and to preserve the character of the old barn in the center of Kressbronn while transforming it – with just a few, well-considered interventions – into a modern, accessible building. The conversion of the former agricultural barn should preserve the building’s character, retain the deeply overhanging, protective roof, and also maintain the traditional division with a solid ground floor and a threshing floor above.

A Home for Both the Young Parents and their Children
There is an image that comes to mind when we talk of a house where children live and a house in Pyeongchang-dong. We built a home that transcends both stereotypes. We tried to conceive a place that simultaneously offers sample room for adults to live and spaces as well as circulations children can like, play, and grow; a home where children can bear witness to their parents’ happiness and later mirror that happiness in their adulthood; a dignified and comfortable home for adults with kind gestures toward children (Low windows and basins, spacious bathtubs, interesting circulations, varying distances between the ceiling and the floor etc.) spread across the premises.

The premises are easily accessible and fairly wide, located in a category 1 medium- and high-rise exclusive residential district, and have a busy road, albeit one-way, right in front and tall apartment buildings on both sides.
