September 10, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

The “Museo Vivo Interactivo Yatiyawi” is designed to house exhibitions and workshops, providing new spaces for the El Getsemaní foundation, an organization that works with children and adolescents in the periurban neighborhood of Tilata. This neighborhood is part of the outskirts of the La Paz-El Alto metropolitan area, at an altitude of approximately 3920 meters above sea level. The urban sprawl that is transforming the landscape of Tilata can also be described in material terms, as earthen buildings, witnesses of a recent rural past, are rapidly being replaced by concrete and brick constructions.

Providencia House / DOMA

September 8, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

How does architecture become a home? How does a house become a home? Providencia is like a refuge from the overwhelming parts of the city, yet it remains connected to its urban wonders. It is a protected volume, a home that welcomes you, and makes you feel safe and comforted, while simultaneously connecting with the surrounding nature. It offers small hideaways for contemplation, whether inward or outward-facing. At every point of the journey, there is a unique encounter; windows frame views of the natural environment, and openings connect with the same landscape.

+55 Design Store / Studio Arthur Casas

September 4, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

The brazility, so determining for the identity of the brand +55design, also  defined the architecture of the store, designed by Arthur Casas and  his team. To solidify this intention, cobogós in the façade,  monochromatic earthly and green tones, as well as lush greenery  composed by native Brazilian species highlight its tropicality and make  the store an exhibition space. Therefore, with a neutral and minimalistic scenario, the objects and products gain protagonism. “The project was  thought searching for solutions to evidence the furniture, not the  architecture”, explains Arthur. To achieve such results, lighting is a great  ally – the amorphous opening between ground floor and mezzanine and  the glass roofing allow for abundant natural lighting, which brightens  spaces and highlights the furniture’s materiality.

Before making any type of design proposals or conceptual principles for the project, the existing formal limitations were analyzed, which meant that the proposal was developed based on three conditions: the first is related to the internal regulations of the condominium. The second is related to the required program and finally the capacity of the local workforce to carry out the work. Through these three requirements, the project develops its architectural concept, its integration into the plot, its program, its exterior spaces, and its energy certification.

D+N2 House / DP+HS Architects

September 1, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Being an extension house project of the previously designed house by DP+HS Architects, this was a notable project due to its strong presence and unique brief. The clients wanted a tailored home that was sumptuous yet subdued, having the quality of outdoor activity yet enclosed and a private atmosphere. Due to its nature as an extension house, the program is quite straightforward: a collection of rooms to support the activity of the main house, which are a swimming pool, sauna, lounge, playing room, and basketball court.

September 1, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

The design of this apartment facing Ipanema beach, in Rio de Janeiro, was designed for a couple with two young children, who wanted a space to accompany their daughters’ growth and also environments with privacy for home office work. The highlight of the project is the panoramic view of the sights of Rio de Janeiro and the sea at Ipanema Beach. From dinner, it is possible to see Morro Dois Irmãos, and from the home theater, a part of Arpoador. The kitchen is integrated into the living and dining room and was designed using the same materiality to function as an extension of the social area.
