Korngold Apartament / Ana Sawaia Arquitetura

October 4, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

The Polish architect Lucjan Korngold designed the Higienópolis Building in 1946, which was completed in 1949. Korngold settled in the building’s penthouse, where he resided until his death. As an influential figure in São Paulo’s architectural landscape during the 1940s and 1950s, he also designed the CBI Esplanada Building in São Paulo’s city center, the Bom Retiro Commercial Center, and various residential buildings in Higienópolis. The apartments within this building feature an intriguing layout distinguished by a large balcony that extends through the bedrooms, along with a small central patio that admits natural light into the living area.

The House that Splits / Voluar Arquitectura

Memory: Time and Epigenetics – “In contrast to Newton and Schopenhauer, your ancestor did not think of time as absolute and uniform. He believed in an infinite series of times, in a dizzily growing, ever-spreading network of diverging, converging, and parallel times. This web of time – the strands of which approach one another, bifurcate, intersect or ignore each other through the centuries – embraces every possibility.” Jorge Luis Borges, The Garden of Forking Paths.

The Lovers – Clan Living / Ruang Nyaman

October 1, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Located in Kemenuh, Bali, The Lovers villa series embodies a unique architectural vision, designed to enhance the honeymoon experience through a fusion of sustainability, intimacy, and Balinese cultural inspiration. The concept evolved from research conducted in 2021, which revealed a gap in the honeymoon market in Bali, where many couples seek privacy and exclusivity, yet few places truly accommodate the expression of their deepest desires. The Lovers was created to fill this gap, offering an intimate, sensual space while embracing sustainable design principles.

House in Shunde / Multi-Architecture

September 29, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

This is the residence of a family of five in Shunde. The couple are employees in the town. Their children have just reached adulthood. Although the children’s grandpa is old, he is in good spirits. The site is located in the center of the town. Surrounding buildings are also for residential use. This is a typical self-built housing block in the Pearl River Delta. The homestead is 8 meters wide and 10 meters deep, which is very similar to other homesteads within the block.  The north and south sides are narrow alleys, and the west side is a narrow dead-end alley. Only the east side with better vision and lighting.

House of Fortune / Dean Dyson Architects

September 28, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Paying homage to Collingwood’s industrial past, House of Fortune by Dean Dyson Architects, restores heritage while embracing innovation and social connection. Stepping into Dean Dyson’s studio, the clients described wistful reminiscing of Collingwood’s industrial past and shared childhood memories of neighbourly engagement and social connection. These stories inspired Dyson, as lead architect, to weave cherished memories into the very soul of the home.  Stepping beyond functionality, the design incorporated “nostalgic feelings” through layout and material choices. The brief to Dean Dyson Architects centred upon values of family connection and adaptation.
