SO-IL with Ana Prvački Debut Musical-Spatial Performance at 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial

Today SO-IL, in collaboration with Ana Prvački, debuted L’air pour air on the occasion of the press preview of the second edition of the Chicago Architecture Biennial. The performance explores the art of performing behind a filter in an age where many cities suffer from the environmental impact of human habitation. Described as “part installation and part musical performance,” the creators have drawn inspiration from abundant plant life and the interconnectedness of people and nature.

This Innovative Cooling Installation Fights Soaring Temperatures in New Delhi

This installation is a bespoke attempt to simplify and reinterpret the concept of air-conditioning, understanding that standardized solutions may not be universally applicable given the constraints of cost and surrounding environment. Using computational technologies, the team at Ant Studio has reinterpreted traditional evaporative cooling techniques to build a prototype of cylindrical clay cones, each with a custom design and size.

Apple’s Steve Jobs Theater Set to Take Center Stage Ahead of New Product Launch

Ahead of the official launch of the Steve Jobs Theater, a 1000-capacity auditorium at the heart of the new Apple Campus in Cupertino, California, new details about its design and construction have been revealed. According to Bloomberg, the entrance to the venue stands beneath “a silver disc,” whose supporting—and structural—glazed panels lend it the appearance of floating 20 feet above ground.

German Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Biennale Will Respond to Debates on Nations, Protectionism and Division

In 2018, Germany will be reunified for 28 years, the precise amount of time that the inner German border wall—which was active from between 1961 and 1989—stood between “East” and “West”. With this in mind, the German State have announced “Unbuilding Walls” as the theme of the German Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. Curated by Marianne Birthler and developed by GRAFT, the exhibition will be designed to “respond to current debates on nations, protectionism, and division.”
