This pavilion was conceived as an exhibition space to showcase the eight North Eastern states of India as part of the 2023 Surajkund Craft Fair- an annual fair that promotes Indian handicrafts and provides a platform to artisans. The site is located in Faridabad near the historic man-made Surajkund Lake and was commissioned in the 10th century by King Suraj Pal of the Tomar dynasty. Basic Strategies for Acoustic Comfort in Residential Architecture

January 30, 2024 Helena Tourinho 0

Within a city, various factors are taken into account when it comes to housing, such as location, proximity to services, mobility, access to natural light, view, and noise levels. These considerations are particularly crucial in densely populated areas, with a stronger relevance to apartments in high-rise buildings. In contrast, when designing a house, specific factors are inherently addressed. It is assumed that a single-family residence is situated away from busy city centers, leading to longer commutes for services. The availability of natural light is influenced by the location of the building on the land, and noise is minimized because residential areas are usually away from bustling urban environments.

House with Indoor Garden / Hiroshi Kinoshita and Associates

January 30, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Tottori Prefecture, where the site is situated, experiences twice as many rainy days and snowfalls as the San-yo region, making it less conducive to an outdoor garden. Consequently, our proposal involves integrating the garden, typically an outdoor element, into the interior design, seamlessly intertwining rooms with an indoor garden. The site is situated near a park, and the layout has been meticulously planned to maximize proximity to the park side, allowing for an inviting view of the park and facilitating the flow of refreshing breezes. To ensure privacy, especially given the road between the site and the park frequented by neighbors, we minimized the number of openings. The building is also located in a semi-fire zone, so other windows face the courtyard of the welfare facility on the south side, and under-windows are provided in shaded areas.

Sipply Coffee / sgnhA

January 30, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

The design focuses on the first two stories as the first stage. On the ground floor, the front space is simply formed by the centric main coffee bar, which emphasizes the building facade axis of symmetry. The courtyard with the existing spiral staircase creates a buffer zone between the in and out, the front and back, at which are restroom and storage. The first floor is the main seating space, with a large communal table and banquette seating along the length of the space. Attached to it is a small balcony looking down the front yard and a semi-indoor corridor connected to the roasting room at the back.

Mayalogili House / Nowhere

January 29, 2024 Pilar Caballero 0

Maya (n) A Sanskrit word with unclear etymology, probably comes from the root mā, which means “to measure”. The wondrous and mysterious power to turn an idea into a physical reality, a state of mind, or perhaps consciousness, an Illusion, or appearance. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, carved into one of the many picturesque rock formations in the city of Hyderabad is a sprawling colony with lanes shaded by seasoned trees, roads sparingly lit by rays of filtered light that fall on a bed of red, yellow and green. Nestled discreetly within a lane of ever-changing houses is the home of a family of four with agrarian roots.
