The landscape was an essential element to develop this project along with the site topography. The main concept of this design was to keep privacy while exploring visual amplitude and nature connection. The ground floor projective intention is a U-shaped form that surrounds the pool and is surrounded by the landscape. On this floor, the main spaces and uses are integrated, and there are between them, living, dining, and gourmet area. Around those uses previously related, on this floor, there are a kitchen, laundry, cinema, and office, they, together, help to guarantee privacy.

Knowledge Center for Innovation in Saint-Étienne / K architectures

This building is one of the main wings of the former Saint-Etienne arms factory. This industrial estate was built in 1864. It covers an area of twelve hectares to the north of the city centre. Designed in the spirit of the rationalist architecture of the 18th century, such as Claude Nicolas Ledoux’s saltworks or the Grand-Hornu near Mons, the factory is an industrial and military «palace» composed of white stone and red brick. It embodies the aesthetic ideal of an era intoxicated by the fortunes generated by the industrial revolution.

Dutch design studio Random Studio has created Bodyscape, a “futuristic” pop-up store, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of French fashion brand Mugler’s fragrances. Artefact adds cloister-like timber extension to Islington home

Local studio Artefact drew on “20th-century courtyard houses” when creating Pirouette House, a cloister-like extension to a 1980s building in Islington, London, made from red timber. Marcus Fairs given lifetime achievement award by British Society of Magazine Editors

Dezeen founder Marcus Fairs, who passed away earlier this year, has been honoured posthumously at the BSME Awards for his “massive contribution to magazine journalism”. Fairs was awarded the Mark Boxer lifetime achievement award by the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME), which is voted for by members of the society’s committee, at a ceremony last week.
