BGN Penthouse / Estúdio Mangava

December 6, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

The renovation project for the BGN Roof sought to qualify the space in the most surgical way possible to bring out the full potential of the building. Functionality, aesthetics, and updating for new demands are the keywords in the project. Intervening in the typical roof plan was also a way of bringing a unique and more personal character to the family home, which was no longer used as a leisure area. Interventions were carried out in all spaces, expanding environments and improving flows between the large integrated room that includes a TV room, living room, and dining room, with the bar and the external area.

The Spaarndammerhart restores the urban fabric of the Spaarndammer neighborhood. The street that disappeared in the 1970s for the construction of the local school, Spaarndammerschool, has been restored. The plan also brings back two street walls and adds a public courtyard to the neighborhood. Accessible through two large gates, it also connects to De Klerk’s iconic ‘The Ship’ building. In fact, the neighborhood is characterized by several world-famous monuments of the Amsterdam School.

Brief. The brief was for a 4-bedroom house on 40 perch land, with all the service areas and related amenities. The question was how to organize the brief through connections, overlaps and separations of spaces to create the right matrix. We were taken on a tour to see the client’s existing house, and to see the little rituals that have been developed over the years that they would want to bring to the new house; it was a great insight and a briefing.

The Floating Frame House / Rushi Shah Architects + Tattva Landscapes

The Floating Frame house is located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city amidst a dense green rural area. While designing, we often try to understand the user group’s personality. The house being ours, it had an integrated brief from all family members which includes a structural engineer, an architect, and a landscape architect. The concept was to design a home that could delight the scenery of both an undivided garden and sky from major parts of the house. All members being nature lovers & wildlife photographers, the material palette of exposed brick, exposed concrete, exposed steel structure, and lots of creepers, and plants covering the house were key aspects of the design process. Here, the architecture is enveloped by greens.

HAVEN Residence / VSP Architects

‘HAVEN’ is situated near Vytila junction in Cochin – one of the city’s busiest and most densely populated regions. The irregular shape of the plot, which was narrow in the front and wider towards the rear, along with the surrounding tight-knit context, posed a challenge in designing spaces that were open, with adequate natural ventilation and light, while simultaneously ensuring privacy.

Little House on the River / APS/ Pablo Senmartin arquitectos

“A reflection on our landscapes and a return to the essence of childhood to inhabit, play and explore, the refuge, the tree house, summer, the metaphorical value of the created territory, the awareness of the lived place, the passage of time, inside the forest and next to the river”.

The landscape is what is present in nature and goes beyond the visual or perceptual if we understand it as a system of resources and interactions that allow it to be, giving it value is being able to dialogue with it without damaging its essence. Architecture is when you know how to read that system and join it, if you are environmentally conscious, as one more element that makes the most of resources without damaging them, where, every day, every hour, every season, every morning, you can live a different experience. , enjoy the passage of time, and build your own atmosphere with identity next to that place.
