Kyvik house consists of three distinct parts held together by a rigorous exposed wooden structure. A compact two-story house, a heated conservatory, and a framed garden form an articulated whole. There are strong spatial connections between each part and the surrounding garden. Each room has been carefully studied and designed based on its function and has specific spatial qualities adapted to changing seasons and light conditions.

The Infinity housing complex sits in a remarkable landscaped location, composed notably of protected woodlands encircling the plot. The project articulates four three-story apartment blocks and two one-story grouped villa blocks. The housing complex has a total of 101 dwellings, going from one bedroom to five bedrooms for the villas.

Characterized by a simple structure and a gable roof, the traditional barnyard typology responds to its original function: sheltering farm products and livestock. In recent years, however, the barn aesthetic has evolved tremendously, sparking the interest of designers with its enduring rustic charm, minimalistic shape, refined ornamentation and modularity – qualities that have long made it popular in countryside hideaways. Reinterpreted to fit a contemporary style, the vintage typology has conquered modern projects that seek to offer an escape from the fast-paced, dense reality of urban life. Whether refurbishing historic farms or building new homes designed to resemble barns, architects have drawn inspiration from the industrial origins of traditional barnyards, but adding a modern twist.

The site of this project is located in the western mountainous area near Beijing city, occupying a low-lying site within a mountain village, roughly 100 square meters in size. The original spatial condition was crowded and chaotic, and although people lived within the wilderness of the mountains, they could hardly feel the beauty of their surroundings.

The client is a civil engineer with an in-depth knowledge of construction techniques and energy modulation and has constructed more than 4000 houses in this region. We gathered the inputs from the client and developed a concept that gave maximum comfort from an energy efficiency perspective. In the shuttle-wise white boxes with customized steel fins on the exterior, an arithmetic representation of the house number is inscribed on a stainless-steel rotating cube, and Also The House no.26 has been cut out on the front floating slab to create a beautiful night view projection, Creating a minimal, Unconventional and Captivating Elevation.
