South Korea-based hoffice has created a small store in the basement for Soui. located in Seoul, where natural light and external air are blocked. The plan has been divided based on the floor grid by the walls, inducing functional solutions and spatial experiences. In this space, the walls surrounding the central space flexibly divide each area, creating a private shopping experience inside the wall, and a pure sense of space visually organized by displayed products outside (the central space). In addition, each wall is designed to guide the flow of traffic, giving visitors a primitive experience as if they were exploring a small cave.

Nido II House / Angelucci Architects

March 28, 2022 Hana Abdel 0

The project has been coined from the Italian word “nido” meaning bird’s nest or kindergarten, so fitting for a project that developed from its mid-twentieth century migrant history in the area. The home was purchased as a desire to return to the original place of origin when the client’s grandparents first migrated from Italy to Australia. This journey has been an exploration between architect and builder to explore the opportunities possible in small living in the city. Critical to the value of small living is the ability to maximise natural light, increase open space, extend views into the distance, maximise natural ventilation and ensure all aspects of modern life have been catered for in the design. The home was originally designed for a young couple and during the journey has developed into a home for six. The design approach was to maintain the existing open space by re-distributing the open area throughout the house. Each level is connected to the outside, via a central courtyard next to kitchen/dining/living and roof deck accessed from all areas within the home.

Pátio Residence / Arquitetura Gui Mattos

Located in Monte Mor, the Patio country house with about 980m2 spread over its two floors and annexes is a pleasant family retreat. Born from the restrictions and challenges of the condominium, the architecture seeks to solve issues such as coverage, which should follow pre-established standards, and the preservation of intimacy, given the impossibility of building walls. These premises, together with attention to better insolation and distribution of the house in the generous lot, become fuel to transform an apparently ordinary facade into a project full of surprises.
