The house is for a family of four, parents, and kids. They are very active in play activities and evidently possess a large collection of stuff collected over the years. The brief calls for a renovation of an existing house, with a strong focus on living spaces, ie, the ground and mezzanine levels.
UTS Building 7 takes its place in the Master Plan as the final wall of Alumni Green. Its envelope preserves the sunlight onto the collegiate heart of the campus, through canting and sweeping arcs. The building façade is a monolithic light weight material, with double layers of offset windows for each floor. The windows are arranged in a concertina pattern, billowing with the building’s curving form. Graded coloured reveals are reminiscent of a grove of trees.

The Rose House consists of alterations to a two storey house. A solid masonry façade responds to and protects the house from the site’s street frontage, a charmless and inhospitable cul-de-sac consisting of 1970s apartment building car parking podiums and the Bradfield Highway beyond. The cul-de-sac and nearby highway, a source of constant noise, needed to be addressed in the reconfiguration.
The project of this house sought to respond to an extensive programme and at the same time, comply with the rules imposed by the allotment. The allotment is located at Praia da Barra, right beside Ria de Aveiro, with privileged views over it. This is a home for the entire family, from grandparents to grandchildren. The house aims to provide living areas where they can be together, and more private and intimate ones.
