Our client New Shoots saw an opportunity in a site which many others thought was unusable. Originally, the site was split into two areas by a stream and had become an abandoned and neglected wasteland that stored and collected motorway run-off. The site was overgrown and an eyesore in an otherwise attractive neighborhood.

The unique architectural form of Bafeng Retreat is an attempt at a fusion of Central Asian, vernacular, and modern architectural elements, an homage to the status of Turpan as a melting pot of cultures, religions, and peoples throughout history. The finished project is hidden in the leafy foliage of the Grape Valley, therefore completely integrated into both natural and built environments.

Loft RLO / ME Arquitetura

July 4, 2021 Susanna Moreira 0

Loft RLO was designed as a pavilion that seeks to capture a life inherently connected to living outdoors. A single-story residence with generous proportions, with just one suite, one bathroom, and two half-baths, that values being and living together, blurring the lines that separate the outdoors from the indoors. The project explores the relationship between occupied space and voids, from the entrance pathway to the glass doors that open up completely and vanish into the walls. This creates a single large living space out of a dining room, kitchen, porch, and pool deck.
