This house is located in a quiet neighborhood in Pune. Abutted by two roads lined with large banyan trees, the site had an existing art-deco house, set amidst large trees. The program was to demolish the old house and construct a new one. The idea was to preserve most of the trees; hence the new house predominantly occupied the area of the existing house and started responding to the surrounding trees.
“This house means everything to us because it is the fruit of constant efforts to pursue our dreams,” said the homeowners, a married couple of young age and active lifestyle. Talking about the house they have just bought, they wanted to renovate it into new living spaces and a home office–a fashion factory producing handcrafted leather products.

After years of dreaming about a spacious and private house, this family of five decided to leave their four bedroom apartment and build a customized home in a quiet neighborhood in Herzliya, a city just 20 minutes from Tel Aviv. Right after choosing their lot, the family approached Shachar-Rozenfeld Architects with a clear vision – a practical and cozy home that includes three bedroom suites for the children, a nice yard with a pool and most importantly – lots of privacy.
Located on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, the Bellarine Hillside House by Freehand Projects is designed to engage with its natural Australian bush environment to create a sense of sheltered prospect. Designed to feature the site’s endangered yellow box eucalyptus trees, the house’s distinctive form mimics the slope of the land. Strong westerly breezes are directed up and over the facade, creating a calm, protected zone on its leeward-side. The house’s primary form is created by a series of exposed timber frames in a bold expression of structure. It is partly inspired by ‘Taliesin West’, the house and studio built in Scottsdale Arizona by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1937.
