Urban Cabin / Studio Marcio Michaluá

January 1, 2020 Daniel Tapia 0

The space is an urban refuge. Hybrid, brings references of art, design, architecture, fashion and photography. The landscaping, suggested by Renata Tilli, blesses the hut in a harmony of well-being, relaxation and connection. The invited artist, Antonio Peticov, lends his creativity giving life to the hydraulic tiles and the neon sculpture, which marks the cabin in a spectrum of colors of the rainbow. “I believe that nature needs to be more and more present, reconnecting and filling spaces previously occupied by furniture and objects,” says the architect. The bamboo lends to the entrance of the hut, its symbology of lightness, flexibility and strength.

Voids Cafe / Studio SKLIM

January 1, 2020 Andreas Luco 0

Voids are treated as form in this micro cafe. The empty space in a coffee cup or matcha bowl was the form-giving inspiration for this micro cafe spanning only 28 square metres.  Negative spaces punctuate the space and circular geometries are consistently carried throughout the rest of the built form carving out seating booths, countertops, display shelves and overhanging canopies.  It is a process of subtraction and addition to create the operational and anthropometrical needs of the cafe. In this condensed space, it was essential that we balanced the numerous kitchen inventory with the customer zones, utilising every nook to add to that experience.  We were able to create several working and customer zones including an experience/retail corner, a take-away counter, seating booths and even a small ‘Ritual Counter’ for conducting workshops and making drip coffee or bowls of powdered Japanese green tea (Matcha).

Home for The Homeless / xystudio

January 1, 2020 Daniel Tapia 0

Shelter in Jankowice is an unusual building. It is designed for homeless people who are life-deficient and for whom there is no place in the care system. They are too healthy to live in a social welfare home and too “unhealthy” to use dormitory. Nun Chmielewska decided to build the “HOME” for them. A large one-story building with a wavy roof blends into the surrounding fields and hills. It is not possible to see it from the road. It is hidden behind old trees growing around the former school playground. All windows have a beautiful, idyllic view. The building is divided into three main zones separated by brick walls. In the entrance zone, there is a public area: a chapel, offices, rehabilitation rooms, a common room, and a canteen.
