Daisy House / IZ Architects

January 2, 2020 Paula Pintos 0

Inspired by the hobby of the owner of the house- a woman who loves daisy and wants to see it every time she wakes up in her house, the image and color of this flower is metaphorically designed and arranged in both the overall and the details of the house. With a small area and slanted layout, the house must be maximized as this will make the space of the house become maximized too and thus create a more spacious feeling.

House Jipyeong / IWMW

January 1, 2020 Daniel Tapia 0

A stream flows swiftly along the front of the village and a mountain stands in the background. Colorful gabled-roof houses are gathered around, which is commonly seen in rural areas. By walking up along the winding street, ‘House Jipyeong’ is situated on a land that overlooks the neighborhood with a scenery of mountains and fields. The house is designed as an atelier for a painter and a living space for her family. The main reason the artist needed a house was to have her own atelier where she could work on paintings of various sizes. Also, the family wanted to have a life near to nature that would remind them of life in a Hanok – a traditional Korean house where they had once lived. At the beginning of the design phase, several houses were under construction just across the road to the south.

Living Pavilion / Behin Ha

January 1, 2020 Paula Pintos 0

Installed for the annual Annecy Paysages Festival, Living Pavilion suspends an inverted garden overhead at the Notre Dame plaza in the old city center of Annecy, France. The pavilion employs a modular system of dairy crates as the framework for growing a planted surface on the underside of a three-sided open wooden structure. The modular design allows the plants to continue growing elsewhere after the pavilion has been disassembled, and for the pavilion to be regenerated in future years.
