A house with arches and 2 courtyards in the hybridization of cultures and influences. At the start of the design process, the request of the client was clear, they preferred “Singapore’s Peranakan architectural features”, in other words, an extraordinary atmosphere for the house, and furthermore they had a clear image of room location, and façade. For this reason, at first, taking Peranakan architectural elements into the design, creating a plan which the client requested, in spite of this approach, the distance from the real taste of the client request got expanded.

In 2012, Guangzhou Municipal Government decided to build the Museum of Cantonese Opera Art in order to conserve and inherit the now endangered Cantonese Opera in Xiguan. Xiguan was a vital area for Cantonese Opera in the ancient city of Guangzhou and it is now the Liwan District.Cantonese Opera and Lingnan Garden were deeply rooted in this district.

The Vallée du Parc Residence sits in a bucolic valley in Mauricie, a south-central region of Québec. Originally inspired by a reinterpretation of the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the ground-floor plan is shaped by a studied insertion of various terraces and its relation to the automobile. From a distance, the eye is attracted by the complex angular roof that establishes a geometrical reciprocity with the surrounding hills.

20-24-26 Marcy Avenue Apartments / Studio Esnal

Text written in collaboration with Ashley Simone. Three buildings, designed to appear as a singular structure, share a monolithic facade constructed of a corrugated panel on Marcy Avenue, in Brooklyn, New York. The height of the unifying facade, rising to sixty feet, negotiates the surrounding structures; the elevated Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, adjacent brownstones, and the nearby industrial buildings of Williamsburg.
