Hilarchitects completes contemplative meditation hall in eastern China

Wood-lined rooms, shaded corridors and water walkways are just some of the features that Hilarchitects has incorporated into this meditation space in north eastern China. Located in the rural outskirts of Cangzhou, a city in Hebei province, the meditation hall has been designed by Hilarchitects to let visitors “dissociate from their regular rhythm of daily life”.

The question was to create 144 childcare places on the plot of an existing municipal park maintenance service. The plot sits within a remarkable park environment, framed by tall trees. The building is designed as a pavilion within this park, a circular building with little distinction between front and back enriched by its relation with the varying surrounding conditions.

Jade Signature Tower / Herzog & de Meuron

Jade Signature is a tower on the beach. Like the great Miami hotels we have come to admire, it is a building rooted directly in the landscape and the city around it. Interior and exterior are seamlessly bound together. The street connects to the lobby, the lobby overlooks the pool, and the pool is on the beach.  Jade stands in contrast to the wall of parking plinths that usually form a barrier between the city and the beach. The relationship with nature, the environment, and the surroundings are at the core of this project.
