AI SpaceFactory Builds 3D Printed Mars Prototype for NASA

Architecture and technology company AI SpaceFactory has completed the autonomous construction of MARSHA, a proposal for a Martian surface habitat for NASA. The 3D printed shelter is one of five finalists in an international competition to design and build a habitat for a crew of four astronauts on a mission to Mars. AI SpaceFactory formulated their own material – a “Martian polymer” that can be made from matter found or grown on the planet.

Einar Dahle Arkitekter and Hille Melbye Arkitekter received 1st prize in the 2014 design competition for a new church and cultural center in Spikkestad, Norway. In May 2018, “Teglen” (meaning “the brick” in Norwegian) was completed and inaugurated. The building is shared in both ownership and use by state church and municipality, and embodies a consecrated church room, a neutral ceremonial room, a café, activity-rooms, administrative offices, and municipal services.

Sopoong-gil Community is part of an urban renewal program that was not developed by government or local administration. It was rather organized to do what local people wanted by improving the environment with the assets of the local. The steering committee for Sopoong-gil Community has been set in operation since July of 2017 to reflect public opinion on what kind of programs there will be and how to operate them. ‘Sopoonggil Community’, which is more than a mere wheelchair ramp that extends all the way from the 1st floor to the roof top on the 3rd floor, creates community space with no boundary and invites interactive connection with users’ various choice. With the ramp with no boundary, various activities can take place with the needs of everyone who wishes to use it.
