L House / Juri Troy Architects

The corner property located on a southern slope above the village of Purkersdorf offers a wonderful view of the Vienna Woods. The upper floor was built in timber construction and completely covered with white fir. It encloses a courtyard with a terrace and natural pool on the hillside and opens (itself) to the south over a spacious loggia. The façade was built in a vertical manner without needing. The whole interior is cladded with white fir. All wall cladding, doors, furniture is made out of white fir. In the area of the staircase the sheatinghas 6 meters of height. In front of the windows the façade provides shading to the building.

Centennial house / IGASO architects & planners

Centennial have the maximum floor space as a mixed-use housing built on a small land, at the end of a cul-de-sac in the city center, and designed it in a creative way to overcome the forms inevitably determined by legal conditions. In addition, by creating an affluent space that can communicate with the outside elements, the resident comfort is secured and sustainable architecture is realized by using recycled materials.

U House is located in the new development area in the suburb of Binh Duong, a growing industrial city in the South of Vietnam. The owner is particularly interested in the garden house in rural Central Vietnam and wanted to recreate the lifestyle that is in harmony with nature, often seen in this traditional residential typology. The challenge for us is to adapt the traditional design to this new setting.

Rwanda’s Bugesera International Airport to Set Records for Sustainability

Rwanda’s largest publicly funded project, Bugesera International Airport is on track to be the first certified green building in the region. A few pieces of this net zero emission complex include: a 30,000 square metre passenger terminal, 22 check-in counters, ten gates, and six passenger boarding bridges. Funded by Public Private Partnership, the project is cost estimated at $414 million USD. The international hub was only one of several initiatives discussed by the Africa Green Growth Forum (AGGF) in Kigali at the end of last year.
