ReYard House / Team Bosphorus from Turkey

The ReYard House has designed and built by Team Bosphorus for the Africa edition of an international collegiate sustainable and energy efficient building competition ‘Solar Decathlon’. Team Bosphorus is-the first Turkish team competed in Solar Decathlon-including students and professors from two well-known universities of İstanbul/Turkey; İstanbul Technical University and Yildiz Technical University. The team has been awarded in 3 categories in the competition; Innovation, engineering and Construction, Social Awareness.

The main object of this project is the energetic renovation of the Paul Heraud High School in Gap , France , in order to reduce by 50% the energetic consumptions and to get the gold level for the BDM label . Last November, we obtained this BDM label gold level for the realization phase . In addition to the initial program , The project dealt with the compliance upgrade for disabled persons and safety of the site , especially with the reorganization of the fore court and the entrance .The compliance upgrade for safety was established by the Region during the study of the project ( APD phase ) further to the Nice attacks .

Although it is a material that has been widely used for thousands of years, recent research involving industrial manufacturing and machining technologies has provided even greater quality control and an increased diversity of uses, causing it to be described by many as the material of the future. To this end, common myths including wood’s lack of resistance to fire and the implausibility of using it to structure tall buildings have been debunked.
