WE+lab Fuxing Plaza / RoarcRenew

November 11, 2019 罗靖琳 - Jinglin Luo 0

Fuxing Park locates in the north of Middle Fuxing Road, shaded by oriental planes, while Roarc project “WE+lab” starts in the FUXING Plaza, an old three-storey building that seems to be out of place amongst the French garden. Our challenge lies in how to elegantly blend the project in the French grace and romance of the Fuxing Park.Stepping once again into this park, Roarc team was overwhelmed with the astounding characteristics of the French garden: axis, axial symmetry, gridding, patterning, as well as the beautiful flowers, planes trees, pavilions and ponds. Our team determined to salute the only French garden with our design.

Abdel & Marijke / Atelier Vens Vanbelle

Abdel and Marijke have just retired. They lived in a large house, built in the 1980s. Their three children had just left the house, and their house had grown too large and defects in the house were gradually emerging. Instead of patching up their home, they made a more radical but conscious choice: they decided to sell their home and look for a home tailored to their new lifestyle: compact, completely renewed and with a manageable garden.

Just minutes from the Place de la Bourse in the second arrondissement of Paris, Studio Vincent Eschalier has delivered the rehabilitation of an entire office building. Intervention between tradition and risk-taking, in line with the efficient and unconventional style of the agency. For this rehabilitation in a historic district, the architect wishes to highlight the building while respecting the vernacular architecture. The interiors offer maximum flexibility to future occupants. The existing solid walls have been by moveable full-height partitions which divide the open space.

Castellana 81 Renovation / Ruiz Barbarín Arquitectos – ARQUIMANIA

Needless to say, the great responsibility entailed in renovating the 20th-century contemporary architecture icon, has meant for us ensuring maximum respect and admiration for each and every part of this magnificent building. As a result of the works carried out, the hidden parts of the building, which had been covered or transformed over almost 40 years have been recovered, obsessively observing the building’s singularity, protecting its atmospheres and materials, making it more sustainable and accessible, and working rigorously based on the module it was built with. The search for such ideal proportion was essential at the beginning of the project and revealed the required unit of measurement: ‘the elephantine foot’ which, with its 33 cm, is a tenth greater than the classic foot.

Mile End Road Apartment Refurbishment / Vine Architecture Studio

November 7, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

The significant refurbishment and reconfiguration of an East London top floor apartment to re-invigorate the lost soul of the building. The existing apartment was in a state of disrepair accessed via a shared stairwell with offices below.  The project ambition was to re-imagine the proportions, arrangement and flow of this cramped flat.  We sought to rationalise the layout while retaining the intersecting load-bearing masonry walls that subdivided the space into equal quarters which, in turn, allowed us to define the four living functions of washing, dining, relaxing and sleeping.  A level change and roof valley help demarcate these interconnected spaces and provide undulating height and rhythm which is designed to animate and unite the apartment.

Windows and Doors Showroom / PUJU + WUY

November 6, 2019 舒岳康 - SHU Yuekang 0

For spatial designers, how to live poetically is not just a romantic vision, but a professional issue. It is associated with numerous technics and product details in the space. In this sense, Zhu Teng Space, a merchandiser specialized in aluminum alloy doors and windows, shares the same vision with us. Their showroom in Shanghai is a special project, which makes us think deep about the concepts of doors, windows, genis loci, space and time etc.
