Any kind of intervention in this space should not interfere with the existing one. More than proposing it was necessary to omit, more than designing it was necessary to recover and integrate, more than composing it was necessary to be simple and silent with rigour in response to new needs.
Three of the six wooden Nagaya* houses built in 1926, which remain in Osaka City, have been renovated into private lodgings. All three of the existing buildings were vacant, and rain leaks and decays in various places made them look like ruins. On the other hand, the remaining three houses in a row of wooden Nagaya have been renovated and residents continue to live in each.

A new dance school, events space, and artists’ studios have been carved out of dilapidated and disused historic outbuildings. It is a huge structure. Legend says it has 365 rooms, equal to 365 days of the year in three storeys developed around a central two-level courtyard.
This project, initiated 3 years ago, could be considered as an antagonist allegory to the famous movie Cast away, lost on an island. Located on the outskirts of Paris, at the very foot of La Défense, an otherworldly accumulation of oversized high risers, the house stood almost lost on the edge of a tiny little street that ends abruptly abutting the massive fundaments of a cluster of towers. This brutal situation, in between high density modernist utopia and the modestly grandiloquent 19th century architecture, emphasizes the feeling of being a tiny little Défense-less being.
The Expansion of the main terminal building of Athens International Airport (AIA) was instigated by the new European Security Regulatory Framework enforced in 2019, in order to cover a critical increase in Extra Schengen’s operational needs. The terminal building, approx. 168.000 sqm and almost 800m in length, had to extend by an additional 10% to cover the additional capacity requirements.
The new landscape connects the Church of the Savior on Berestove (XII c.) with adjacent bastion of the Pechersk fortress (XVIII c.). The vicinity of two monuments was controversial. Rainwater from the rampant flooded the church. The archaeological research of the church dug a part of the rampart. The conflict had to be settled through landscape design.
The Brief: a sustainable house. A family of 5 wanting to consolidate two adjoining terraces to create a contemporary, flexible and sustainable house. In initial conversations, they expressed an ambition to approach environmental design in a holistic manner rather than by adding a disconnected list of features.
