Challe cafe in Kyoto fuses Mexican and Japanese design

Interiors firm UNC Studio has transformed a traditional wooden house in Kyoto into a Japanese-Mexican fusion cafe and eatery with a bold, all-red interior. Challe cafe, which features on the shortlist for Dezeen Awards 2025, serves speciality coffee, Japanese tacos and churros to customers in Kyoto’s Kamigyo Ward. Sigma’s pared-back Shanghai showroom lets photography paraphernalia come into focus

Cameras and photographic lenses take centre stage in this minimalist showroom that Chinese firm Onoaa Studio has created for manufacturer Sigma in Shanghai. Onoaa Studio wanted the 500-square-metre showroom to embody the heritage of Sigma, which has been producing photography equipment out of its factory in the scenic mountain city of Aizuwakamatsu, Japan, since 1973.

Auckland apartment block by Monk Mackenzie integrates Fisher & Paykel appliances

Ergonomic kitchens fitted with Fisher & Paykel appliances feature in this eight-apartment building in Auckland, as shown in this video produced by Dezeen for the luxury kitchen brand. Designed by local architecture studio Monk Mackenzie in collaboration with developer Artifact, Jervois Apartments sits on a ridgeline in the central Auckland suburb of Herne Bay.
