The old Industrial Remain, the Reborn Liangzhu
Mengxi Town is the hometown of Shen Kuo and the first industrial design town in China, of which the name is homophonic with Mengxi (One of Shen Kuo’s masterpieces’ title). Every year, more than 500 design elites from more than 30 countries around the world will gather here. Architects of Zoyo are trying to find design basis from the historical relics of Liangzhu culture with thousand-year history and design means based on industry in order to create a special interval between the new and old in space, and the past and the future in time.

The client’s business is on manufacturing and exporting of Christmas lighting products, with total exporting value ranks among the top 100 in Shenzhen areas. In completion, the facility is expecting to facilitate local economic growth and becoming the leader of the light industry in southern China.

Holmen Industrial Area / Snøhetta

On behalf of shipowner Holmøy Maritime, Snøhetta has designed Holmen Industrial Area, a highly sophisticated and colorful 6,000 square meter fishing facility situated on the eastern side of Sortlandssundet in the archipelago of Vesterålen in Northern Norway. By assembling all employees and top-notch facilities on the same site, this bold new facility ensures the regions continued international success within Norway’s second largest industry – an industry worth over one billion dollars annually.

The Fagus Factory is one of the earliest built works of modern architecture, and the first project of Walter Gropius. The commission provided Gropius with the opportunity to put his revolutionary ideas into practice, and the stunning rectilinear volume with its primarily glazed façade would guide the course of Modernism through the coming decades.
