February 2, 2023 Paula Pintos 0

The project aims to provide an inspiring space that opens up new opportunities for the Centre for Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship in Bogor. The building will be used for a range of activities, including community events and training days as well as a Mushola (prayer room). The space is aimed at encouraging people to visit, providing the charity a venue to hire out for other functions – subsequently generating an income. A toilet and shower unit service the site and replace the old dysfunctioning toilets in the existing building.

February 1, 2023 Collin Chen 0

Breakthrough : Rebuilding the daily public life for the residents
The Pavilion is located in XiangDong village, a Huangpu riverside community that is composed of mostly grungy apartment buildings.  480 local families live here in a room of only 10 square meters of clear floor space. The designer applied a positive design approach with a focus on a questionnaire survey and interviews as a start. With this method, the final design provides a reconstructed space that maintains local inhabitants’ daily life.

Mamkkeot house is a project to create a playground without rides where children can run and play to their heart’s content, jointly conducted by Jeonju City, a child-friendly city, and UNICEF. The site is part of Deokjin Park, the central park of Jeonju. About 30 years ago, it was used as an outdoor swimming pool, but the pool disappeared and was neglected for a long time. We once again proposed a space where children in Jeonju City could gather and play.

Atelier AC is a low-cost teaching facility and community center in Aachen. Located in a public park adjacent to a school, it complements the existing functions of sports facilities, gardens, rehearsal rooms and recreational areas with a multifunctional space. In order to achieve the predetermined budget, the design was conceived as a usable shell that leaves open possibilities for appropriation and further construction as a permanent intermediate state.

Cormeum Café and Neighborhood Facility / KARO Architekten

December 8, 2022 Pilar Caballero 0

Cormeum is located at the southern foot of Bibongsan Mountain (229m) in Anseong. As we enter the small road from the main road of Bogaewonsam-ro, we gradually come to see the structure we saw. The first thing you can see is Bonacava, a café run by the client, which is located at the entrance of the site in the form of a long box from north to south, obscuring the “Cormeum”. The scene slowly emerges until we reach this building and stay for a while.

Wraxall Yard / Clementine Blakemore Architects

December 2, 2022 Valeria Silva 0

Wraxall Yard is a sensitively restored dairy farm in Dorset offering inclusive holiday accommodation, a community space, a workshop, and an educational smallholding. The site forms part of a 250-acre organic farm within the West Dorset AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), which is transitioning to a regenerative agricultural system. Driven by the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to engage with farming and wildlife, the brief called for an ambitious renovation of the derelict site that would provide exemplary standards of accessibility and sustainability, without compromising the unique historic and agricultural character of the existing buildings.
