Community

The project is located in Mangmi Village in Yangpyeong, South Korea, in the valley where three mountains meet. Sitting in the deep mountains, the site retains a calm, peaceful vibrance. After retirement, the client couple have been living there growing fruit trees. They asked for a community facility and a glasshouse along with a campsite. The most important feature of the site is the forest. Trees rooted down there for a long time have memories of the place more than anything. 

The new  Socio-cultural center was created on the site of an old outlived Sokol building in the historic center of the village. This village does not have the classic public square and instead is replaced by the Sokec area here, an indispensable phenomenon forever.

Liuba is located in the south of the Qinling Mountains, experiencing four distinct seasons and pleasant weather. As the entrance to Liuba Mountain Scenic Area, the service center is located in a mountain lap in Liuba County. It mainly contains reception and consultation, public toilets, cultural and creative products sales, and a book bar not only providing a place for rest for the villagers, but also showcasing a strong sense of openness.

The project site was originally Tangma Primary School and then changed to Tangma Village Committee, which is close to the main south entrance of the village. As the gateway of the village, it has an extremely important position in the overall image of the village. How to build a community center that can not only meet the needs of local villagers but also serve as the business card of the village is a challenge for the design.

PJKita Community Centre is a new go-to place for the local community, especially the so-called Generation Z. Located in Kelana Jaya Park, the project occupies 4.3 acres and was carried out under PJKita, an initiative by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ). The project aims to engage with youth and bring the community together to achieve a sustainable, creative, and community-driven city. The community center is two stories with a total built-up area of 310 square meters.

The practices conducted in Turkey in regard to stray animals are focused primarily on providing much-needed care to abandoned, injured, ill, disabled, or destitute animals with the intention of releasing these animals back to their natural surroundings at the end of their treatment. With the spatial arrangement of the open and closed spaces focusing on the interaction between humans and dogs while at the same time reinforcing the theme of adoption, the facility sits on a 110.000 m2 site located in the Gökdere district of the town of Bornova in Izmir. Being the first of its kind, this facility was not only designed as a temporary care center but also a center for rehabilitation that is predicated on the interaction between humans and dogs, providing a space that promotes the idea of reciprocal rehabilitation and can be seen as an alternative space for families to spend quality time and reinforces human-dog interaction.

The old horse stables of the former ‘Hollandia’ dairy factory in Laken (Brussels) are being transformed into a medical neighborhood hub, containing a general doctors’ practice, a zone for paramedical practices, a polyvalent space, and a multifunctional circulation space. Currently, the first phase of the work has been executed.
