Uzulu, (From) Zapotec gusulú, Start, beginning. Zapotec people were born in the clouds in the form of birds and dispersed after hearing music, their creator gods became moons, stars and sun. We were all equal, the perfect balance between human beings and nature, connected with our origin, with the beginning of everything.
One of the common problems in big cities, like in Bandung, Indonesia is land / space limitation at the city center. Limited land and plenty space requirements are one of the challenges in designing this house. Split level concept is applied to this house in order to accommodate the needs of the house owner. The requirement of this project is creating something unique for the owner, who is passionate about gardening and modern technology. Therefore there is a garden on every level of the house.
The house was designed from clear volumes and natural materials, always seeking cross ventilation, natural lighting and a delicate fit into the building site.

We found a plot that is a delight, a cut of the forest that this area should have been a long time ago. Crowded with holm oaks, we are greeted by a subtle freshness, the padded floor of dry leaves and a homogeneous clarity that blurs the shadows.
JES House is the story of a project in which the nature of the assignment prevailed over the proposals related to the site. Other factors took over, overpowering the site conditions -environment, orientation, planning- and certain reflections on materiality. The persistence of the developers led us to leave the location-bound ideas aside, one by one, to meet the sole condition of the assignment: to make a contemporary revision of the family home.
