Suggestive architectural proposals for affordable housing to the population, proposed housing development units of questionable quality to solve the housing deficit in the country, and Pernambuco is no different.
Casa Barra is located in Brasília -central-west Brazil- inside a very sunny and dense residential condominium with close neighbors and narrow terrain.
The project for this house was to plan the intervention and expansion of a house from the 40s, in a garden neighborhood in the city of São Paulo. This planning aimed to serve 3 generations of a family, a couple, their respective mothers, and a child.
The project is about the remodeling of an old industrial building for the installation of UNU, United Nations University, and AMA, Agency for Administrative Modernization. The location of the building in Couros area, adjacent to the walled nucleus of the historical center of Guimarães, suffered some segregation relatively to the remaining urban fabric that is accentuated in the final of the century XIX with the construction of new avenues in its limit and, in the mid 20th century with the works of “urban hygiene” and the construction of a new boulevard that connects to the center in the Toural square.
The Palicourea House is located in a rural area in the village of São Jorge, municipality of Alto Paraíso de Goiás, directly on a small hill in front of São Miguel river valley, close to the limits of Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, inserted in the country’s second-largest biome, the Cerrado, which covers more than 772,000 square miles, nearly a quarter of Brazil. The Cerrado is the world’s most biodiverse tropical savanna. Thus, the whole project is an experiment about a way to inhabit the region, considering the specificities of the program and its context as well as the possibilities of a sustainable and positive coexistence between humans and nature.
Casa B consists of a prismatic volume that is set in the landscape with discretion and personality. The exposed concrete on the ground floor unites the spaces, from the access, opening up to the house and giving continuity to the gardens that surround the residence.
The straight lines subtly contrast the curves of the Palácio das Mangabeiras, highlighting the contemporary in a bold and youthful way. The proposal was to create an environment that dialogued with the whole, expressing the modernist memory through a contemporary solution and bringing elegance through form, materials and textures. It was to create an environment that spoke for itself, receptive to the most diverse interpretations.
The Van Been brewery was designed to offer fluidity in its indoor-outdoor space relationship, based on the idea that the consumption area, sidewalk, and open spaces could be merged into a single environment, adding value to the commercial spot and somehow adding value to the neighborhood. For that, we opted for the metallic structure as a structural system, which allowed us to work with an open space on the front façade, creating a pillarless space close to the building’s entrance, with full circulation between the interior and the external areas.

Santo Antônio Marist School is a large place where everything is integrated, creating opportunities for meetings and playful, ludic activities in places where people would normally just pass by. The corridors are large, generous spaces that allow different setups based on the furniture and the educator’s creativity.
