House da Fontinha / Carlos Castanheira

I know the city of Porto well. I thought I did. I went to Fontinha, right in the center of Porto, and entered a Quintinha with a bucolic air as if it were in the middle of the countryside, but protected by high walls. There was already a house there, the parents’ house. With a tower that allowed you to leave the Quinta and see all the urbanity of Porto, even to Foz, through the Atlantic.

Residência ZV / F:Poles Arquitetura

August 16, 2023 Susanna Moreira 0

Located in the interior of São Paulo in the city of Sorocaba, the history of Residence ZV began with the clients’ contact with our office and the desire, from the beginning, to have a house that occupied the minimum possible of the lot, maximizing the free areas for gardens and landscaping. Furthermore, there was a desire for the house to have a 360-degree balcony from which they could walk around the perimeter of the residence to view the landscapes of the valleys surrounding the lot.

The Casa Calm was born from the desire of a family to have a summer space in their hometown, which may possibly become their permanent residence in the future. With the premise of a contemporary and minimalist project, the client, a Mining Engineer, brought the fascination for concrete as a central request among the materials.

Onze22 Building / Triptyque

August 9, 2023 Susanna Moreira 0

TRIPTYQUE Architecture presents Onze22, a residential building transcending the classic tower block as a set of overlapping, suspended slabs, interspersed with glass walls. Due to this structure framing the urban landscape in 360 degrees, Onze22 promotes total fluidity between the exterior and interior. This design invites users to relate to the city, not as something that is outside – here, the view composes the spaces as if they were part of the decoration.

Casa Líquida (Liquid House) is the name of the artistic residency conceived by Julia Feldens in the city of São Paulo. Since 2015, Julia and her two children have shared their home in the Sumaré neighborhood with artists who use the space for experimentation and communal living. The project aims to challenge the traditional notions of the domestic space, usually seen as an intimate and private place, and instead transform it into a sphere of integration, coexistence, and collective creation. So far, over 2,000 artists have stayed at the residence.

With a narrow and short lot, Yuji’s House is located in the Pinheiros neighborhood, on the west side of São Paulo. The project is by the Goiva office, by architects Karen Evangelisti and Marcos Mendes, and the 40-year-old building, made of solid bricks, retains a traditional look on a street in the middle of other houses and without much car movement.

Zigzag House / Architectare

August 2, 2023 Susanna Moreira 0

Designed for a young couple with two children, the dream of building their first home, and a limited budget, this house was designed to be very simple and “cheap”. To this end, a modulation was adopted that repeats throughout the construction, where the program can be well distributed and the work could be divided into stages, with the possibility of the garage and the last room being built later, if necessary.

White Bricks House / BLOCO Arquitetos

July 26, 2023 Susanna Moreira 0

The White Bricks House was built in an extremely artisanal way by masons-craftsmen, in a slow and precise process. Although it is a constructive process that is not very widespread in Brasília nowadays, the use of exposed solid bricks has a constructive complexity that requires precision and constructive refinement, elements that are very present in the most representative public buildings of Brasilia.
