The People’s Station is a cultural center designed to reinvigorate the sleepy Kwan-Yen district of Yantai. The building is situated just beyond the edge of the business district. With large open entryways, semi-outdoor areas and sections lifted above the ground, the building acts as a nexus that invites visitors to explore the historic core of the city.

Located on a steep cliff lot in the Sea Cliff district of San Francisco, California, this project is a custom rebuild single family house. Bordering the Presidio and Lincoln Park, this house overlooks the Pacific and the whole Bay Area views.

The building is built for Qixing Education, a successful Chinese company that offers summer and winter school programs for children and the youth. Their pedagogy is to take the Chinese children, mostly products of the one-child policy, out to a temporary community of their own, and get close to nature while learning various skills in culture, craft, and socialization.

We are trying to find a way to engage new technology, materials, ideas to excavate the essence of Chinese architectural culture, to create a new form of Chinese architecture adapting to the development of modern era, to return the value of Chinese culture. We hope to use design to regain the essence of Chinese culture and reshape our cultural self-confidence.

A Work of Substance was tasked to redesign and rebrand The Fleming Hotel, originally opened in 2006. A new take on the architecture, interior, products, and identity transformed The Fleming into a 66-room boutique hotel that is a true reflection of Hong Kong.

Architecture firm Penda has created “Urban Nest,” a new small living concept in collaboration with BMW China’s MINI LIVING group for the recent Shanghai Mini Life Exposition. The installation is constructed from a series of 3 by 3 by 3 modules housing different program elements that can be combined to create a variety of flexible living arrangements.

This project locates at the Jianghan Road, Wuhan, China. It is a BG (Board Game) bar, and also provides light meal and coffee. HUB is the name of this bar, and it is also its brand culture, aiming at offering a communicative and free space for consumers.
