House 49 / Atelier Waterside

House site is located in downtown Guangzhou, home lane. The 3m x 9m narrow base is close to the neighbors, and the east-west orientation makes the external conditions even worse. The client is a couple of young artists who wish to have two bedrooms and a low cost.

Guiyang Zhongshuge Bookstore / X+Living

The project is located at Yun Shang Fang Zhou in the general bonded area of Guiyang. Standing at the commercial plaza, you can recognize the familiar text curtain wall of Zhongshuge. There is an open bookshelf in the window next to the entrance, lined with grey yarn books. The window glass is decorated with a maxim on reading by an ancient wise.

East Parking Building of Sanya Phoenix International Airport / Jing Studio

The project is located at the eastern end of the airport area, with a main road to the north, a internal road to the south, and facing the new-build complex building to the west,the  T3 terminal building to the south. The tusk is to solve the current traffic congestion as well as to expand parking spaces. Due to the growing traffic pressure, the complex building and the parking building are urgently demanded.

Hutong Filter / ZAI

Hutong Filter seeks a balance between the walled mentality of traditional Hutongs and a more open communal lifestyle. This project employs slate and timber stud framing in a manner that is both functional and in harmony with the surrounding context. The brief was for an extra studio space and outdoor dining area. Initially, the plan was to fence off the whole plot for privacy reasons. But eventually, a more subtle solution was found.

Nanxianglou, one of the most expecting scenic spots in the historic Gankeng Village, Shenzhen of Guangdong Province, has gained lots of reputation abroad. From the time-honored study of literature and art to today’s history-thickened hotels, visitors can have a glance of the old architecture that celebrates the culture of Southern Fujian and the Hakkas. The architecture at the heritage area features a large scale of the solid wood structure, complemented by the deep-seated culture connotation.

Life Sciences Building for the University of Washington / Perkins+Will

The University of Washington recently opened the new gateway to the life sciences on its Seattle campus with a state-of-the-art building created for the next generation of research, teaching, and public outreach. Designed by global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will, the highly innovative and sustainable Life Sciences Building (LSB), including a 20,000 square-foot greenhouse, creates a new centerpiece for UW Biology. Home to the largest undergraduate major on campus, UW Biology educates more STEM students than any other program in the state.

Election Campaign Headquarter / BIAS Architects

Before election days in Taiwan, the streets are filled with banners and billboards with candidates’ faces and political symbols. Trucks and minibuses with loudspeakers drive through the streets, trumpeting loud music, the candidates’ names, and their speeches. Unfortunately, while all the narratives address the city and its good management, most often the spaces of the last are just jammed because of the activities.
