The footprint of this vacation home dances around the complex conditions of the site. Although the site is splendidly situated overlooking an ocean view to the southeast, there is an elevation gap of about 1.4 meters in the center, around an outcropping of bedrock, and an unbuildable area cutting into the property on the street side. By necessity, the detached building housing a two-car garage, and the guest room is situated on the east side, where the elevation gap is smallest, but the client requested that the main house weaves around the difficult site conditions. 

The site is located on the boundary of Mudeungsan National Park and Gwangju downtown. You can approach the site via a two-lane road that connects nature and the city together and its streetscape is a mixture of tall ginkgo trees, old houses, and commercial buildings. Since some portion of the land has been incorporated into the road during road maintenance long ago, the site has a triangular shape. In addition, the usable area has been largely reduced to 62.73m² due to the exception of land area in accordance with widening standards for the backside road and retreat of the frontal road by two meters according to the landscape districts. Two sides of the triangular site face the road, while the third face in the south and are covered by a neighboring building.

Ashvattha: ‘the Sacred Fig’, derived from the Sanskrit terms ‘shva’ (tomorrow) and ‘stha’ (that which remains). NOIDA is a planned satellite city of Delhi, and part of the National Capital region of India. The city is organized as a series of rectilinear tree-lined transportation grids: encompassing sectors, that are further divided into blocks of plots. The ‘People tree house’ is a 7000 sqft building, built on one such plot, and is surrounded by neighboring buildings on three sides. The clients: medical entrepreneurs and their children, lovingly chose and named the plot ‘Ashvattha’ based on the fortuitously located ‘fig tree’ to the eastern corner of the site.

Dave and Libby’s Gladesville House is a renovation of a Californian bungalow for a young family of five. The site is a large suburban block perched on the high side of Gladesville capturing distant views of gum trees and part of the Harbour and North Easterly breezes.

A housing area that was built on land where generations have been around for 50 years was newly fixed. It is a village in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do that is now called ‘Goam-dong’ and the former name of the area was Gorami (Goremi) Village. A married couple is the building owner and they had been residing at an apartment in Bundang, Seongnam, and were used to city life because they engaged in active social activities. Then, the male owner had to take care of his elderly mother so they moved to Jecheon 5 years ago to plant beans and omija fruits on land that is over 2,500 pyeong in size. The female owner is running a daycare center and still lives in the apartment, but she comes to the Gorami home on the weekends so they are a weekend couple.

After finding sprouts of the endangered and endemic Guaiacum coulteri species, Fundación Casa Wabi created a nursery for the care and reproduction of Guayacan tree. The Guayacan Nursery is found upon entering the area of Casa Wabi area, next to the entrance. It is the first pavilion by location and the fourth intervention within this complex. However, due to its condition of being half underground, and surrounded by vegetation, it may appear unnoticed.

Villa K is a two-story private residence located in Meydan’s Millenium Estates in Dubai, UAE. The Villa spreads over two levels revealing a double-height ceiling at the main entrance, the stairs lobby, and the main reception space. IAIA Studio used various marble slabs and finishes to accentuate the potential of natural stone in the home’s interiors. Marble Slabs have been carefully selected to match with one another, wrapping floors and walls, and sculpted to include patterns, textures, and lighting details.

The Lantern house was designed for a Lagosian family on Banana Island, in Lagos, a private island on the Lagos Lagoon off the shore of the historic Ikoyi neighbourhood. The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom 911sqm house is a self-contained oasis and emblematic of Tosin Oshinowo’s signature afrominimilist style, with clean, crisp lines, an integration of sophisticated geometric patterning to emphasize depth, texture, and materiality, and playful use of light to create a glow of warmth in the interior and exterior of the home.

Tien Cam’s house is situated on a slopes hill in a peaceful rural area, surrounded by mountains, overlooking orchards, flowing streams, and fertile fields. On the land is an old four-level which the son wants to demolish to construct a new house for his parents as a present and it’s also a place for family members who work far away to return to rest on special occasions.
