Tracing – Interior design for a complex consisting of a ‘gallery’ for exhibitions of pop art, fashion, and commercials, a ‘store’ for sales of exhibition-related goods, and a ‘studio’ for filming and recording. The floor plan takes into account the fact that the site is a street-level tenant on Omotesando and the deep plan shape, and is arranged in the following order from the front: store, gallery, and studios for use by related parties only.

Since its foundation in 2005, our firm has been looking for a workspace that would allow our practice to blossom. How to develop a business near downtown with the limited resources of a small firm and the constant increase in rents and taxes? Moreover, with the current boom in Montreal real estate market, the demand for housing allowing families to stay in the city is constantly growing. In the last ten years, the Rosemont neighborhood has been attracting families who enjoy living close to shops, public transportation, and green spaces. Unfortunately, every year, fewer opportunities are affordable.

Industrial House / archistudio studniarek + pilinkiewicz

The house was intended to be a contemporary barn with industrial accents. Yet another modern barn? Such a solution could correspond with the originally rural landscape of Silesia. But we proposed the type of architecture directly referencing the industrial, more characteristic, contemporary heritage of the region. The one-story, elongated body of the building, covered with a double shed roof, referring to the factory buildings of which there are many in Silesia, with a red brick façade, created a contemporary sculpture with unambiguous connotations.

The Røksunds and their two children had been living on one of the islands in the Bømlo district to the south of Bergen for many years when they discovered plans for a new road and bridge would have a significant impact on their existing home. Given that the family loved the setting and surroundings, the solution was to build a new house on a hilltop site further away from the road that also offered a mesmerizing open vista across the islands.

Garden Garage / Studio North

May 11, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

In the developed neighborhood of Upper Mount Royal, the Garden Garage addresses a typical conflict between yard and garage by hybridizing these typologies into two intersecting landscapes. With an underused corner of their property that had excellent sun exposure and site access, the client approached Studio North with a request to create a building that enhanced both the backyard and driveway uses. The new garage and shed roof allows the two planes of the driveway and the backyard to coincide and ultimately enhance both programs.

This contemporary family home is sited directly opposite a lush park containing a children’s playground, lined by a row of mature rain trees which reach towering heights of ten to fifteen meters above the street. The house was designed to create direct views from the master bedroom and roof terrace onto the lush green canopies formed by the rain trees lining the park. The client’s brief was for a family home for a young couple with a young child. On the first floor, privacy was important, so we solidified the external wall, except for a small glass viewing panel to the street. On the second floor, to control incoming views from pedestrians looking into the master bedroom, we designed a set of sliding screens that can be closed for privacy when needed.
