La Ballade Promenade / Leclercq Associés

July 4, 2024 Hadir Al Koshta 0

On the occasion of La Grande Motte’s 50th anniversary, the Leclercq Associés agency has redesigned the Pompidou and Tabarly docks, a project inspired by the codes of the 1970s seaside resort. This new promenade marks a promising first step for the continuation of the Ville Port (city-port) project. * from beach to beach… the word «ballade» (ballad in English) is spelled with two «L»s when it refers to a poem, a piece of music or… act 2 of La Grande Motte! It’s a tribute to Jean Balladur. La Grande Motte has long epitomized the massive concrete development of the coastline and symbolized the clichés of popular tourism. However, the futuristic city envisioned by Jean Balladur in 1963 is a model of environmental urbanism, promoting lifestyles that are both modern and nature-oriented, favoring pedestrian life and the slow rhythm of the sun’s course. Inspired by the Mayan pyramids of Teotihuacan and the white concrete curves of Brasilia, Balladur managed to blend the geometry of modern architecture with its pyramidal shapes, with the coastal dunes and the Cévennes mountains.

New Provostry Extensions and Reconstruction / Studio acht

July 3, 2024 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The New Provostry is a historical building from 1877, built in the neo-Gothic style, adjacent to St. Vitus Cathedral in the heart of Prague Castle. Originally intended as the residence of the provost, the building was confiscated in the early 1950s and has largely remained abandoned since then. During the communist era, the courtyard and associated outbuildings were destroyed, and the main building was used as barracks for construction workers. In 2016, the New Provostry was returned to the Church under the restitution law. The reconstruction concept focuses on reopening the inner courtyard to the public. It offers a unique view over the lower Deer Moat, as no other courtyard on the north castle wall is publicly accessible.

Westerpunt Observation / studio MOTO

Context – From the beginning, we were aware of the sensitive location, and the unique character of the place where many different elements come together. The sea with its tides, the beach, the dunes, and the promenade. Belgium and France. Birds and walkers. Water, sand, concrete, and nature. How can we bring all these elements together, and make them more tangible, without imposing them and without disturbing the place? We sought an experience that could be part of all these elements and become one with the place as if it had always been there. Permanent, anchored, yet free. Meaningful. The form we were looking for ultimately answers this question in all its aspects.

Acerbis House / BURATTI ARCHITETTI

“Typological hybridization” is the central theme characterizing this project. On one hand, the design completes the historical building facade of the street on the piazza, reinterpreting traditional elements of the typical architecture in the historic center of Albino. On the other hand, the inner courtyard transforms into a villa with a garden, creating a unique blend of public and private spaces. Albino is a small town where everyone knows each other. Many times, we have discussed with our clients the beauty of living on the piazza, walking out to meet friends, and having coffee at the corner bar. Equally appealing is the idea of being isolated and protected in a villa that opens onto a private inner garden, where one can dine under the portico and walk barefoot on the grass.
