Now, after almost one hundred years, the distillery is being re-imagined to produce whiskey once again. The revived facility, which will retain its original mill race aqueduct, malting house, store, and furnaces, will again have the capacity to produce high-quality products for the international market. Central to the concept is the juxtaposition of striking modern design alongside rich historical architecture. This reflects an innovative modern brand, informed by a history of tradition in the Irish Whiskey industry.

This project enables the establishment of a consolidated STEAM precinct for Firbank Grammar School’s Sandringham Primary School campus. Promoting a transdisciplinary STEAM program was a key component of the school’s curriculum. The precinct will bring together class types currently dispersed throughout the campus, including music, art, robotics, and food technology. The proposed site for the new STEAM precinct comprised two existing brick buildings – the Social Centre and a general-purpose classroom building – completed in the early 2000s. Located at the periphery of the school campus, the existing buildings enclosed a small triangular garden along two edges, with the Learning Hub situated along the garden’s third edge.

Garden Tower House / Studio Bright

October 25, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The dense urban fabric of Cremorne is under intense development pressure, with huge whole-site-consuming developments towering over original workers’ cottages. Within this context, and on a tight 144 sqm site, the resurrection of a dilapidated weatherboard Victorian could quite understandably be a surrender to the limitations of its traditional plan form and tricky site constraints. A quick and direct fix-up was initially envisaged; however, something more ambitious evolved during the design process as our client grew in the belief that long-term programmatic needs could be satisfied on the site.
