Østre Havn Parking House G2 / SANBERG Architects

December 4, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

A Parking house is primarily a rational construction with the purpose of getting as many cars as possible parked in the least space possible: a construction that often ends up as depressing and deserted backside to the city. With our design for the new parking house in Østre Havn, it has been our aim to create a simple facade that varies according to the light of the sun and sky. Located between Nyhavnsgade and Østre Havngade, the parking house has a robust construction from simple materials, in-keeping with the former industrial aesthetics of its harbor context. Its facades consist of a range of different extruded aluminum lamellas, which are easy to assemble, and therefore also easy to disassemble. This ensures that at the end of the building’s life all of the facade materials can be easily dismantled, and the aluminum can be recycled.

New Services For Boaters On The Port Of Cannes / Heams et Michel

December 4, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The port of Cannes is situated between Suquet Hill and the Palais des Festivals. It borders the dike to the south and the Allées de la Liberté-Charles-De-Gaulle to the north. It was a sheltered beach until 1838, when construction began. The port has undergone a series of transformations and expansions in response to new requirements. The project’sobjective is to offer new services, at the heart of the water, near the boaters. As part of the waterway development project, a competition was launched in 2009 in which the call for tenders was closed. A second competition was launched in 2013. Its building permit wasn’t granted, the call for tenders was unsuccessful and as a result, it didn’t go through either. A submerged box will be built in order to store the technical equipment which is required for the functioning of the port.

Sava Installation / Openact Architecture + Sara Palomar Studio

December 4, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Sava Activities is an on-going public urban design project aiming to reintroduce the riverbanks of Zagreb’s Sava River to the daily life of the city. Initiated as a competition proposal in 2015, the project had been developed around the flood related characteristics of the river. Unlike the other European capitals which are established around a river, Zagreb’s urban growth had been formed with a tendency to move away from Sava.

U.LAB Atelier / Design studio U.LAB

December 3, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Since the early day’s of U.lab’s establishment, there have been an attachment and longing for the old and profound space of our own. Due to our job traits, we always create new spaces. However the accumulation of time of the old space could not be intentionally created. Hence, the space having long history has always been yearned. This space was the rice mill created in 1931, during Japanese Colonial Rule. We were very interested in the time and place of this space. Since It was a 90-year-old building, so it needed water leakage prevention and insulation work. However, we did not want to change the existing space significantly. We planned to design the rice mill carefully and delicately, by adding only functional space while preserving basic form.

The House On The Roof / Rémy MARCIANO architecte

December 3, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The house on the roof talks about scale, the human one of the inhabitant and his housing and those of his built environment. We tried to find coherence and a dialogue with the multiple scales and typologies present in the near context. This work on volumes allowed us to think about continuity with the surrounding context in a concern of accompaniment and transition scales involved.

Foodhallen Den Haag / Studio Modijefsky

December 2, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Fans of the carefully curated Foodhallen venues will be no doubt excited about the latest location opening its doors this autumn in Den Haag. After two intensely popular food courts in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the most recent venue is located within Haagsche Bluf – a hidden-away area of luxury shops and contrasting architectural styles. With an interior designed by Studio Modijefsky, the brand-new hall is a vibrant space to enjoy local people and flavors. Wrapped around an internal courtyard of the Haagsche Bluf, the food court spreads across three adjoining buildings, connecting multiple floor levels and irregular structural grids. The new design simplifies the original chaotic ‘forest’ formed of existing columns, beams and staircases, turning the dark and low interior into an open public space heavily inspired by the tradition of the greatest European piazzas.

Family House in Jinonice / Atelier 111 Architekti

December 2, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

A narrow street, where the sleepy character of old Jinonice is still preserved, broadens out to create a tiny square with a well. It was dominated by an abandoned house, formed by the gradual addition of masses, some of which overtopped the original one. The complex of these small buildings, placed in the sloping garden, was in a very dilapidated uninhabitable state.

FL House / Berzero Jaros

December 2, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

A few blocks from the Suquía River and next to the Barrio Alta Córdoba Train Station, the house is located in a small urban lot of 105m2 in a well-connected area. The proposal intends to make a contribution to the built environment by intervening in a residual space, achieving the completion of the urban fabric and thus valuing the already consolidated environment, favouring the social mix and taking advantage of the current services and infrastructure lines. On a small lot of 7mx15m, the proposal makes vertical sense by organizing the program in a series of overlapping floors in order to optimize the approach. The project rejects any spatial hierarchy in order to become an open and flexible system of multiple connections calling for continuity and freedom.

Hendrick’s Gin Palace & Distillery / Michael Laird Architects

December 2, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Since the inception of Hendrick’s Gin 20 years ago, the unusual spirit has been a leader in the gin market. Hendrick’s is well known for its elaborate Victorian-inspired branding and unique rose and cucumber flavor however, until recently, it was lacking a home worthy of its uncompromising commitment to quality and distinctive brand. Michael Laird Architects and the Design Team were commissioned by William Grant and Sons to design a purpose-built distillery. The principle function of the building was to serve as the new iconic home for their eccentric Hendrick’s Gin.
