Desert X AlUla 2024 Visitor Centre / KWY.studio

The Desert X AlUla 2024 Visitor Centre is located at the end of a narrow canyon, a cul-de-sac that implied the position of the building as well as its spatial organisation. Nested between rock formations, the structure offers a singular uninterrupted view towards the West, starkly contrasting with the adjacent canyon walls to the North, East, and South. These immediate views of the stratified cliffs become essential to the experience.

Ex Officine Tosi / Ambientevario

The redevelopment project of the Ex Office Tosi, generated with the intent of preserving the history behind them, trough the addition of new, visible stratifications of the entire building. The original style of the building has in fact be maintained both in the exterior faces of the building, which have been fully covered by exposed bricks, and the interior areas, in which the lofts and the  antique vaults are integral parts of the house, which attribute a particular value to the interior spaces. The stratification of the contemporary project is clearly evident from all the additional elements and modifications that have been made to the ageing building, mainly in the superelevation and in the different openings. The new elements however have a specific characteristic: the usage of the same colour scheme, which contrasts the modern touch with the antique elements that remained inside the building.

Lower School Campus of Westmark School / NBBJ

One in five children have learning differences. Yet most schools are not designed with neurodiversity in mind, which hinders learning for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. The design of the Lower School campus of Westmark School—which supports students with language-based learning differences—creates an inclusive, welcoming, and nature-infused environment, featuring mass timber and other natural materials. Gathered around a grand California Sycamore tree and designed to be net zero, the project aligns the architectural vision to the highly specialized education and individualized instructional model of Westmark School.

In an era where global temperatures are rising year by year, the responsibility of architects and designers to contribute to energy-efficient projects becomes essential. This responsibility was the guiding light that illuminated our vision when we were given the opportunity to create a residence for a couple who longed for their own corner of paradise on the Oaxacan coast.

The mixed-use building spans from one end to the other of a block in Mexico City. The project is configured as a concise response to its urban circumstances. Its narrow and elongated design, as well as the solution of the facade, can be traced as a response to each building and void adjacent to the site.

House B / APB Oficina de Projetos

One of the most incredible houses in the city appeared as a gift to us. Of post-modern architecture, dating back to the 80s, it was intact, with all its original features: wooden floors, granite, marble, accessories, and fixtures, and the entire structure in exposed concrete. It fits perfectly with the idea the clients desired for Casa B/. We found in the house itself the solutions for the project’s concept and sought to go further, highlighting all the potential it offered us. The concept: the house would continue to be a home for the clients, cozy and welcoming.
