Rafael Viñoly Architects’ Tokyo International Forum has been honored with the prestigious AIA Twenty-five Year Award. Celebrating its “distinctive transparent character and capacity to engage with the public in the largest metropolitan area in the world.” Rafael Viñoly Architects was first selected to design the structure through Japan’s first international design competition facilitated by Kenzo Tange, the architect of Tokyo’s City Hall and the first Japanese laureate of the Pritzker Prize.

The Tower of Balance is one of the twelve creations by six artists and architects invited to design outdoor art installations for the 4^th Triennale Bruges 2024 from April 13 – September 1, 2024, at the World Heritage City of Bruges, Belgium. The theme of this year’s event is “Spaces of Possibility,” with Shendy Gardin and Sevie Tsampalla as curators, inviting artists to discover potential in the World Heritage City of Bruges by incorporating art in different areas.

Skygarden has its genesis in tessellated ornament, the color fields of abstract art, the hanging gardens of Babylon, and James Turrell’s immersive installations, where sensory deprivations eventually give rise to figments (and pigments) of imagination.
