Melrose Housing / Taillandier Architectes Associés

June 8, 2024 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The project is part of the overall development plan for sector 1 of the “Laubis” joint development zone. This was the subject of a “Europan” competition, won by the AR357 urban planning team, and is located on a plot of land on the outskirts of Seilh, not far from the Airbus site and the MEETT, Toulouse Exhibition and Convention Centre. Sector 1 is the beginning of the joint development zone. As “knitting your neighborhood together” is the leitmotiv of urban planners, we proposed a series of strip housing units articulated around a patio during the competition. Sector 1 is divided into several lots: B8, B9, B10/B11, and B12. Lot B8 is being developed by AR357, lots B9, and B12 by the FFFBBB agency, and lot B10/B11 by the TAA agency.

Jing’an Yuyao Road Kindergarten Branch / Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects

June 7, 2024 Valeria Silva 0

Kindergartens represent the first public space that children encounter in their growth process. The scale of the space, the flexibility of its use, and the indoor scenes and atmosphere greatly influence young children’s perceptions and cognitions, presenting a challenge for architects. Yuyao Road Kindergarten is a first-class kindergarten in Shanghai, located in the modern upscale residential area of the northwest corner of Jing’an District. Since its establishment in 1957, it has undergone a 48-year journey in preschool education. For many years, Yuyao Road Kindergarten has adhered to the principle of “everything for the children,” a philosophy that Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects also upholds in various educational buildings. Through our design, we aim to inspire children’s desire to explore and acquire knowledge, while providing them a comfort, safe place, creating a paradise that children love.

June 7, 2024 Pilar Caballero 0

Nestled in the Garfield Historic District of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, this contemporary rehabilitation of a 1955 grain silo challenges conventions of what ‘home’ is. Principal and Owner of Phoenix-based architecture office Kaiserworks not only developed the concept and design but also personally funded and built the project. The project sought to investigate tenants of “home,” as a sequel to a graduate master’s thesis called “The MetaUrban” that Kaiser presented at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
