Seoripul Tree House – Seochodong, where the site is located, derives its name from the abundance of Seoripul plants. Streams from Umyeonsan Mountain flow around the site, located between the Seoul National University of Education and the Gyeongbu Expressway. In rainy seasons, the town nearby used to get quite foggy. While most Gangnam residences are filled with apartments or complexes, the area near the site is full of single housing, creating a silent atmosphere.

Blue Table Chocolates Workshop and Retail Space / Arch&Type

Tasked to imagine a ~780 square foot space for an artisan chocolatier, Arch&Type asked how built space can enhance the crafting & consumption of chocolate. Rather than focusing on the superficial image (how chocolate appears) and painting cocoa beans on the walls, designers Seth Amman & Adam McCullough explored chocolate’s emotional & physiological impacts and how to evoke such feelings through material and space. The impetus for this exploration came from client Ben Johnson, who presented an image of untempered crystallized chocolate: melted, silky, and flowing. Design began by extracting the feelings from the image and Ben’s product— comfort, mystery, warmth, decadence—then transposing these into the realm of building craft.

According to its owners’ wishes, the SOURCE pavilion is a unique and tailor-made pool house nestled in the heart of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, in the Villa Montmorency neighborhood. This remarkable pavilion discreetly emerges among the Haussmannian residential buildings in a sheltered green area spanning over a thousand square meters. Respecting the site’s balance with nature, the project is strategically positioned in the northwest corner of the plot to allow the living spaces and pergola to open towards the south. This arrangement maximizes the distance from neighboring properties and provides a calming refuge.
