We began by evaluating the constraints of our previous studio while developing a strategy focused on a flexible work culture, new technologies, and an increased commitment to sustainability.

Dissolving Architecture into Nature: Dorte Mandrup Designs Hotel in Norway’s Arctic Circle

Danish architecture studio Dorte Mandrup has just released the designs for its new project in the Arctic Region. Teaming up with high-end Norwegian adventure and outdoor brand Norrøna, the studio has designed a nature hotel. Situated in Northern Norway in Senja, Norway’s second-largest island, the hotel is surrounded by dramatic landscapes featuring steep mountains, beaches, valleys, and deep fjords.

Nomadic 5.0, Lotta Cangsong Store Renovation / Ruhaus Studio

Lotta Cangsong Store has operated since 2017 and is one of the earliest boutique street coffee shops in Shenzhen. In 2022, Ruhaus Studio undertook an iterative update of the brand space, continuously exploring the various possibilities of product composition and space over the next six months. In April 2023, due to equipment aging, the renovation of Cangsong Store was suddenly put on the fast track. Lotta, derived from Italian, means “battle,” representing the courage and determination of the owner to fight for an unknown life. This extreme renovation is a challenge for us and a result of accumulated efforts based on continuous thinking.

Zasadený House / Pauliny Hovorka Architekti

In addition to the organic connection of the interior with the exterior, the horizontal form, and the subtlety in the terrain, the materials chosen are an interesting feature of the family house called “Zasadený” (Slovak for “embedded”). It is built on the authenticity of natural materials, their serene coloration, durability, and graceful aging. The green roof of the building seamlessly merges with the surrounding terrain.
