In a noble residential sector in Brasília, this residence is part of an architectural ensemble to be built on a farm. It is a large enough area to construct four residences on plots of approximately 2,000m² each, in addition to the common-use area with access roads, sidewalks, squares, and generous landscaped green areas.
Urban context. The University of Applied Sciences in Merseburg has approximately 3,000 students. The campus is characterized by the typical postmodern prefabricated blocks of the 50s and 60s – some have already been renovated or demolished. A few buildings are still preserved in their original condition. Next to one of the dormitories is an annex with two levels. This former north-south-oriented telephone station is now repurposed as a new nursery school for the Association of Student Services.

Los Angeles is no exception; with 74% of its land zoned exclusively for single-family homes, multifamily housing construction is limited to an extremely small swath of the city, making the construction of new affordable housing difficult. Complex multi-year permit approval processes often make these projects even less feasible.
Espina emerges from the synergy of different elements that interact to achieve structural and visual balance. It is a pavilion without a defined program, serving the sole purpose of providing shade and directing views toward the horizon. With a minimal footprint of only 21 sqm of built area, Espina offers a panoramic view of three hundred and sixty degrees, connecting the user with the mountain landscape.
