February 4, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

In the idyllic setting of São Miguel do Gostoso, amid tall palm trees on the Brazilian Atlantic coast, emerges Casa Sussurro, a project by Italian architect Davide Andracco. This work balances contemporary innovation and respect for the natural environment, ideal for an Italo-Brazilian family seeking an elegant and comfortable living. The house extends over 283 sq m within an 1100 sq m plot, oriented east-west to maximize natural light and trade wind ventilation. The floor plan is divided into three zones, externally visible, defining the project’s volume and aesthetics. The first sector, the heart of the home, is a spacious living room with an island kitchen, designed to foster family interaction. With a 3.6-meter ceiling, it maximizes comfort and conviviality. A spacious veranda opens to a garden with native flora, integrating the interior and exterior.

Maativan Farmhouse / Blurring Boundaries

February 4, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

Maativan signifies a natural building sanctuary made of mud amidst the forest’s embrace. The natural farmhouse nestled on the fringes of Wada’s reserved forest area near Mumbai in India stands as a testament to dedication to environmental consciousness through the integration of material palette, biophilic design, passive design climatology principles, and construction technology. Maativan exhibits the integration of nature within the building envelope in the thoughtful planning of spaces around existing trees, preserving existing natural vegetation. The design follows biophilic architecture design principles. Shapes were influenced by organic forms found in nature and the ephemeral quality of natural light. The intention was to create an immersive, atmospheric experience that inspires a feeling of being in a forest in a lush outdoor space under an overgrown natural canopy. Organic forms merging with surroundings take clues from the works and philosophy of architects Nari Gandhi and Javier Senosiain.

S House / Ofisvesaire

February 3, 2024 Valeria Silva 0

Nestled on the sloping topography of Kekliktepe, Urla, S House is a luxury residence that was presented to Ofisvesaire with the building envelope and foundational systems already constructed. In an effort to maximize the potentials that were observed in the initial scenario of the existing conditions of the main house, the structural system was revised, providing the opportunity to rework the overall plan and mass of the house. This revision included the reinforced concrete structure evolving into a composite system along with the addition of a pergola with a mobile glass façade as the architectural element that redefines the identity of the building and seeks to blur the boundaries between inside and outside living while providing an unobstructed flow between the interior and exterior spaces. These contemporary additions are seen as an extension and evolution of the original design.
