Casa La Puntilla is a family’s second home located in Villarrica, Araucanía region, southern Chile. It is projected as a compact volume on two levels, to reduce the surface area on the ground and conserve as much as possible the native vegetation of the place. The volume responds to the typical shed typology that characterizes southern Chile. The intermediate spaces arise from setting backplanes on different faces useful for the north wind, winter rains, and strong summer sun. A single additional element is attached to the volume: the elongated roof that reaches perpendicular to the shed and serves as a gallery, parking lot, or covered patio as required.

This is a complex facility for a library and day service for the elderly built in a small rural town. Since the site faces a residential street and the surrounding environment is miscellaneous, windows on the perimeter were kept to the minimum necessary. This was also effective in improving thermal insulation performance and ensuring the quietness required for the intended use. On the other hand, the library section on the second floor is fully open to the courtyard in the center of the building using frameless vacuum triple glazing.

SKIN1004 Flagship Store / LMTLS

January 28, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

Located in the vibrant heart of Myeong-dong, Seoul, the skin1004 flagship store emerges as a distinctive presence in a saturated landscape of skincare boutiques. The essence of this differentiation lies in meticulous, creative space design, serving as the cornerstone for shaping the brand’s unique identity and resonance with the public.  As the pioneer of the first offline flagship store in Myeongdong, skin1004 embraces the profound concept of “untouched nature,” liberating itself from the cliche of nature in green hues. Instead, it introduces a newly crafted landscape, bathed in rich brown and beige tones inspired by the pristine nature of Madagascar, surrounded by rocks, pebbles, and sand. The design aims to offer a distinct experience by blending various landscapes within the urban environment. This intentional contrast with the bustling city outside creates a captivating space, sparking curiosity and providing an intriguing escape for visitors.
