Montes Claros House / Venta Arquitetos

December 3, 2023 Susanna Moreira 0

Montes Claros is a city located in the northern region of Minas Gerais, with intense economic activity and service offerings, constituting a regional center. Located on a more or less flat area 700m above sea level, the city is surrounded by a mountain range that rises to an altitude of 1,000m. This geographical condition establishes a horizon contained by hills with soft contours, which in some way refer to the name of the city itself.

The vocation to dispense with the unnecessary is the common thread that connects the questions of then with those of now, and as a whole with that appreciation of the primitive life that is in the promise of inhabiting a cabin.

The studio’s portfolio includes theater, opera and performance buildings but none of them was so close and so personal to us. We started the design work in 2015 with the winning competition for the new auditorium and practically, with varying intensity, we continued it until July of this year.
