Studio Gang selected for first phase of Denver’s Civic Center revitalization

US firm Studio Gang has been selected to lead the revitalization of Denver’s downtown Civic Center plaza, which will include improvements to a central amphitheatre and promenade. The public space, which was the city’s first National Historic Landmark, is located at the heart of Denver and comprises two parks as well as cultural and government buildings.

Field House is a private residence located in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. The house overlooks a large meadow to the west and is situated in the northeast corner of the parcel, nestled in a hillside forest of deciduous trees, mountain laurels, and rhododendrons. The house is designed to create an engaged relationship with the landscape. The architectural massing and articulation conceptually extend the composition into the field, while simultaneously integrating views that promote engagement with the outdoors. The residence is composed of two separate gable volumes: a two-story main house and a one-story garage, knitted together with a perpendicular exterior walkway buttressed with an intermittent full-height site wall.

Bovenbouw Architectuur and ono architectuur designed a communication center for the storage of low and medium-level radioactive waste in Dessel, Belgium. To remain relevant throughout the 300-year process required to decrease the radioactivity, the building must be able to adapt to unforeseeable changes over the centuries. Aiming for dialogue and opportunities to play the widest possible role, we proposed a building consisting of two parts; an imposing structure that floats like a table more than 12m above the ground in which exhibition spaces are located, and an airy infill below that accommodates the multifaceted program of spaces, halls and offices.
