Squareworks presents TARQ, a contemporary art gallery project located between two significant and historical urban fabrics of Mumbai. The site is on the ground floor of a 120-year-old building sitting at the eastern edge of the Victorian Gothic style urban fabric, and to the west across from maidan, art deco architecture built between the 1930s to 40s reflecting the modern movement and development of Mumbai. The restoration and transformation of this historic structure into a contemporary art gallery space required careful consideration of its historical significance and integration with modern elements.

Exelmans Michel-Ange Building / Stefan Architecture

​Nestled in the heart of the historic 16th arrondissement of Paris, at the intersection of Boulevard Exelmans and Rue Michel-Ange, this ten-story building occupies a privileged position within a corner plot. ​On one side, it’s next to a six-story Parisian-style building dating back to 1912, designed by the architect Lucien Demenais. On the other side, a ten-story building, designed by Pierre Puccinelli built in 1972, presents a dynamic composition with protruding volumes onto the street. The true complexity of this project lies in creating an architectural template that restores a harmonious continuity between these two entities.

O’Sullivan Skoufoglou transforms Berlin bungalow with blocky extension

A band of limestone separates old and new at Fohlenweg, a house in Berlin that London studio O’Sullivan Skoufoglou Architects created using the walls of an existing bungalow. The three-storey family home was developed from a single-storey house on the edge of Grunewald Forest and features a pale brick exterior divided by the limestone band.

Construction begins on Expo 2025 Osaka masterplan by Sou Fujimoto

A circular wooden structure with a diameter of 700 metres is under construction off the coast of Japan as part of architect Sou Fujimoto’s masterplan for Expo 2025 Osaka. Fujimoto is designing the 60,000-square-metre structure to encircle the site of the upcoming World Expo, which will be located on the artificial island Yumeshima in Osaka

Inside Outside Room / l’atelier Nomadic Architecture Studio

The project started with a wish from the client to create more space for the living floor of their house. The 1,5-meter level difference between the living room and the garden, which was at first seen as a constraint, became a source of inspiration to create a large room at the floor level of the garden but at the ceiling level of the living floor, integrating both spaces, but keeping them separate at the same time
