Godai Pavilion / Baldó Arquitectura

The site. The project was born as an architectural response to the construction of a pavilion for guests attached to the pool of an existing home in the rural environment of Cantabria. The land on which it sits extends with a slight downward slope towards the north, with the house, the pool, and the Pavilion located in the southern area of the plot. The local climate takes on a fundamental value, where strong winds, rain, and summer sun become protagonists.

German designers Julian Krüger and Benjamin Kemper have created Digital House, a micro home that can be built without using nails or screws and was designed to be easy to disassemble. Added to a narrow site in a forest in north Germany, Digital House was constructed from recycled aluminium and timber and can be assembled

Jean Macé School / SOL architecture and urbanism

Trappes is a French suburban city located in the great area of Paris, with a large part of the population suffering from poverty and undergoing major changes in its built environment. To be able to accommodate its growing population, the city initiated the revitalization of its facilities, including schools. The Jean Macé complex is a great example of French school buildings from the end of the 60s. The city commission included the thermic rehabilitation of facades, the reorganization of uses and flow, and two extensions to accommodate new classrooms and a new leisure canter. Taking this as a starting point our objective was also to embrace the potential of the school and make it a safe and stimulating building for children with an emphasis on local and bio-sourced material and thermic efficiency.

RooMoo integrates local materials and traditions into Som Land Hostel near Shanghai

Located in the Municipality of Moita, 40 km south of Lisbon, the Santa Rafaela Maria Foundation is a charity established in 1992 to oversee and develop social projects with families and children.  With a focus on prevention of school drop-out, it daily assists approximately 70 children and teenagers with learning impairments, mostly coming from destitute families and dysfunctional environments.  In addition, it assists social welfare with child protection and monitoring, economic funding to families in vulnerable situations, and parental training, in addition to emigrants’ integration.

Essence Financial Securities / Rocco Design Architects Associates

Essence Financial Securities is a 193.5-meter-tall headquarters building for featuring triple- and septuple-height courtyards that rise through the floors. Located in Futian, the central business district of Shenzhen, the tower combines two separate headquarters offices, financial trading halls, and commercial office space into a vertical neighborhood. The headquarters offices occupy three stacks of floors at the upper reaches of the tower. All are defined by voids at the center of the floorplates—rising six floors in the lower headquarters and three in the upper—that act as communal courtyards and visually interconnect the floors into cohesive office clusters.
