This project responds to a social and urban context that has been revealed in the city after the confinement and the pandemic. On the one hand, certain investors have put up for sale tourist apartments in Madrid that they have not been able to amortize for months, and on the other, the return home of many migrants who worked abroad, thanks to the introduction of a labor market that is more open to online work. These two situations mark the beginning of this project: the purchase of two old tourist rental apartments by an owner who returns to Madrid after spending eleven years working between New York and Puerto Rico.

“Casa Lagoa” is an authorial project by Camila Mourão Arquitetura that translates the lightness, regionalism, and ecological refinement of the coastal region of Ceará. The project was developed for an extensive family that appreciates receiving relatives and friends. The mission was to translate into an environment that could accommodate as many guests as possible, a refuge full of natural landscapes.
The over 300-year-old farmhouse, which is over 300 years old and stands on the edge of the protected village center, is designed as a single-roof farmhouse in which the living quarters, stable, and hayloft are united under one roof.
